Grand Banks Dory Spritsail Rigged
Model is 15 inches long, 14 inches high, 12 inches high & 5 1/2 inches wide. Scale 1 inch = 1
foot.
Construction is plank on frame of home grown birch & beech.
This type small boat was used by the Banks fishing schooners to tub
trawl
for cod and halibut. They were also used by the US Coast Guard at Lifeboat
Stations,
as life boats on fishing trawlers, and Sward and Tuna "stick" boats used them to
retrieve "darted" or "ironed" fish with the "keg" and line. Alongshore they
saw wide
usage by individual lobstermen about a hundred years ago.
Included are: Mast, sail, oars, tub, anchor, lobster trap w/buoy.
This scale display model that would be a delight to your nautical décor.
